Software Test Engineer

THE ROLE


Experienced Software Test Engineer with a strong focus on validating automotive systems across multiple platforms including vehicles, HIL rigs (Component, Core, Domain), and hardware components. Proven expertise in performing smoke testing to ensure software stability as part of the stable master task force initiative. Skilled in executing system- and function-level testing, maintaining structured test strategies in System Weaver (Car Weaver), and managing test case development and verdict updates. Proficient in system safety testing and reporting (e.g., SWRS) and actively contributing to test case automation by supporting with manual testing. Adept at documenting test activities in prescribed storage systems to ensure traceability and compliance.



AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:


1. Testing

  • Perform various types of tests to ensure complete functional coverage of the exterior lighting system.
  • Plan test strategies aligned with each software delivery cycle.
  • Identify test areas suitable for automation and propose automation solutions.
  • Conduct and support vehicle testing activities related to the exterior lighting system, in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • In case of issues, capture relevant logs from the vehicle or HIL system and create detailed issue tickets.
  • Coordinate with the software development team to communicate identified issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Actively participate in software meetings and provide feedback based on testing outcomes.


2. Automation

  • Collaborate with the integration team to integrate test cases into nightly test runs.
  • Monitor and analyse test results from daily executions.
  • Identify test cases suitable for inclusion in CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.


3. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain traceability between requirements, models, and test cases in SystemWeaver.
  • Documentation of test verdicts from each release.
  • Support to create Safety related test documentation as per ISO 26262 standard.



EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEGDE:


  • Extensive experience in automotive testing and validation, preferably with exposure to exterior or interior lighting systems.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle testing, HIL systems, and Boxcar setups.
  • Proficient in using software tools such as Vector testing tools, INCA, and MDA.
  • Experience with dSPACE tools such as ControlDesk, AutomationDesk, or VT System for HIL testing.
  • Automation experience using Python and Robot Frameworks.
  • Skilled in test case documentation and verdict updates using SystemWeaver, DOORS, or Electra.
  • Knowledge of safety testing and documentation in accordance with ISO 26262 standards.
  • Strong understanding of validation processes, testing equipment, and standards related to assigned modules.


Desirable:


  • Experience with adaptive lighting systems, sensor fusion, or vision-based control.
  • Familiarity with System weaver.
  • Exposure to Jenkins, Git/Gerrit, JIRA, Polarion, or similar tools.
