Cloud Architect

We are hiring an IT professional who will focus on the company's cloud computing strategy. This includes cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring. The cloud architect oversees application architecture and deployment in cloud environments -- including public cloud, private cloud and hybrid cloud. Additionally, they will act as a consultant within the organization and subject-matter expert on the latest trends and issues.

They will be involved in relevant contract negotiation and work with legal and procurement departments to define service-level agreement requirements.

They will be responsabile for the planning, design, implementation and maintainence of all cloud environments in the organization. The responsibilities of the cloud architect are as follows:

• Cloud adoption

• Cloud architecture development

• Cloud management and monitoring

The soft skills necessary for this role include the following:

• Program leadership

• Communication

• Collaboration

• Thought leadership

• Change management

The hard skills necessary for this role include the following:

• Application architecture: ability to coordinate different applications together in the cloud environment

• Orchestration: usage of automation for maintenance of certain areas of cloud infrastructure

• Governance. ability to handle benefits and risks when implementing key management points in cloud operations and set boundaries with competing organizational interests.

• Virtualization. ability to understand how to provision virtual machines efficiently and integrate them with cloud technologies.

• Security. ability to design infrastructure with enterprise data security and identity and access management in mind. This will ensure that only authorized people or code can access applications.

• Operating system (OS) knowledge. Knowledge of the spectrum of OSes that exist in the complex enterprise cloud ecosystem. Examples include Windows, Solaris, Linux and Ubuntu.

• Networking. Knowledge of the domain name system, TCP/IP and HTTP. They should also understand the infrastructure of main cloud providers like Azure, Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services.

• Programming languages. Knowledge of software development background which often includes languages like Java, Python or C#.

• Finance. Knowledge of the costs of different services and implementations and be able to balance those costs.

• Big data. Knowledge of the architecture and design principles.

The cloud architect should be an effective communicator and have skills that overlap with other members of the cloud team.

A bachelor's degree in an area such as computer science, engineering or mathematics is preferable.

Additional certification is necessary for at least one of the following:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect

• Google Professional Cloud Architect

• Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Location: Milan or Parma
