Job Title: Java/Kotlin Developer (Hybrid Remote)

About the Role:
We are seeking a responsible Java/Kotlin Developer, familiar with the Kanban methodology, to work on developing, testing, and maintaining applications with high performance and responsiveness. You will be engaged with multiple clients, overseeing project execution from end-to-end, within a six-month freelance contract with potential renewal. Availability within 1 to 2 months is required.

Technical Skill Set

Required Skills:
  • Proficient in Java and Kotlin, with strong object-oriented programming knowledge.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Git, and Maven.
  • Expertise in REST API design, including HTTP methods, versioning, and backward compatibility.
  • Observability skills: logging, tracing, metrics, and monitoring service health.
  • End-to-end ownership experience, including managing deployments and production operations.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, and source control.

Optional Skills
  • Experience with AWS (especially DynamoDB), Docker, and cloud computing.
  • Knowledge of microservices frameworks (e.g., Dropwizard, Spring Boot).
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, GraphQL, Swagger, and service meshes (e.g., Envoy).

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.
  • Ensure optimal application performance and quality.
  • Troubleshoot bottlenecks and bugs, implementing solutions.
  • Collaborate with the technical lead to design and ship new features.
  • Work with relational databases to ensure data integrity.
