AWS DevOps Engineer

Job Description:

Role summary

Own the build-and-run pipeline for high-traffic Node.js microservices running on AWS. You’ll automate everything—from code commit to production—so developers can ship quickly, and the platform stays resilient, secure, and cost-efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions / CodeBuild / CodePipeline) for multiple Node.js back-end services.
• Provision and manage infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or AWS CDK) across ECS Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB/RDS, S3, CloudFront, and EventBridge.
• Implement automated testing, blue-green/canary deployments, and real-time monitoring with CloudWatch, X-Ray, and Grafana/Prometheus.
• Harden security: IAM least privilege, Secrets Manager / Parameter Store, KMS, VPC design, and patch management.
• Optimize performance and cost via autoscaling, caching (ElastiCache), and right-sizing.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and refine observability dashboards and alerts.
• Champion DevOps culture—coach developers on best practices, streamline workflows, and document runbooks.

Essential skills & experience

• 3 + years building and operating AWS production environments.
• Proficiency with Node.js build tooling (npm/yarn, webpack, ES modules) and containerization (Docker).
• Strong in IaC (Terraform or CDK) and at least one scripting language (Bash, Python, or TypeScript).
• Deep knowledge of networking fundamentals (VPC, ALB/NLB, Route 53) and AWS security services.
• Hands-on with observability stacks (CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, or similar).
• Familiar with agile delivery, Git branching strategies, and automated testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with serverless architectures (Lambda, Step Functions).
• Exposure to Kubernetes (EKS) and service mesh (AWS App Mesh/Istio).
• Certification: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
