For over 90 years, Kontek has been an innovator in payroll & HR for the Swedish market with customers ranging from 50-2500 employees. Each technological shift has made us stronger, and with our vision of People-first technology as a foundation, we are continuously driven forward. We are now looking for a Development Manager who wants to take our development team and processes to the next level.

Tech we use: Java 17, Angular 17, PostgreSQL, Glassfish 7, currently hosted in a private cloud with the plan to migrate to Azure.

As a Development Manager with us, you have a key role in leading and developing our development team. The team consists of full-stack developers and testers, nine of whom are based in Riga, Latvia, and one developer in Stockholm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a cross-functional development team
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance evaluations, and support the professional growth of team members through coaching, mentoring, and regular feedback and ensure that they have the right tools to succeed
  • Continuously improve and optimize development workflows and processes to ensure efficiency, agility, and alignment with industry best practices
  • Ensure effective planning, prioritization, and timely delivery of high-quality software solutions
  • Collaborate closely with all stakeholders to align team goals with the product roadmap and act as a bridge between the development team and them
  • Responsible for ensuring that relevant channels are used for information about incidents and expected downtimes
  • Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and accountability
  • Identify risks in development and implement mitigation strategies proactively
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training, reviews and other personnel-related activities
  • Oversee team resources, planning, and contribute to budget and financial tracking

Job Requirements

5 + years of experience working in a software development team (e.g. DM, SO, TL, Architect, Sr Developer, Sr Testing Engineer, etc.), including:

  • Strong leadership experience in software development teams (e.g. DM, SO, TL, Agile Lead, SM, etc.), preferably in cloud-based services
  • A good understanding of product development lifecycle and agile methods, and a willingness to constantly challenge and improve processes
  • Ability to create structure, clarity, and drive in the development processes
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to build trust and engagement at all levels
  • Higher education in IT, Management or similar
  • Fluent in English (B2 + level) - job duties include cooperation with people from other countries.
