Java Developer - Reputable Financial Firm

Duration: 12-month contract

Rate: £490.40 per day/PAY

Location: Hybrid in Glasgow (3 days in the office, 2 days from home)

Cititec Talent has partnered with a reputable financial institution seeking a Java Developer to support real-time trading in the Equity Swaps space.

In this server-side, backend-focused role, you’ll work closely with stakeholders in a fast-paced, client-facing environment, using Java, SQL, and automated testing. This position requires a hands-on approach, excellent prioritisation skills, and the ability to work independently under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop high-quality unit tests and documentation for new features
• Propose automation and deployment solutions within our pipeline
• Work flexibly across Java, stored procedures, and scripts as needed
• Participate in a global Level 3 production support rota, offering platform support
• Occasionally support weekend deployments alongside the release team

Experience Required:

• Core Java (server-side), including data structures, concurrency, and commonly used open-source libraries
• Spring, JUnit, Linux
• Proficient in relational databases, such as Sybase and/or DB2, SQL query development, and optimising database performance
• Understanding of message-based architectures (JMS, MQ, Kafka) and MongoDB
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Financial services knowledge, especially within Equities
