Job Summary (Java Developer – State Of Wisconsin)

Remote WI RES REQ

  • Serve as a senior technologist modernizing, enhancing, and maintaining web applications for the Department of Transportation.
  • Design, develop, and support enterprise-wide Java-based applications using Spring Boot and Angular.
  • Upgrade Java versions and update presentation layer technologies for improved performance and maintainability.
  • Migrate legacy applications to containerized, cloud-hosted environments (AWS preferred).
  • Create and troubleshoot complex, nested SQL queries within Java web applications.
  • Provide hands-on architectural guidance and design expertise, utilizing industry-standard modernization patterns (e.g., lift and shift, strangler).
  • Lead technical teams in moving applications toward microservices and modern architectures.
  • Implement DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines, incorporating industry best practices and automated testing.
  • Utilize tools such as SonarQube, GitHub Co-Pilot, and other GenAI-based IDE solutions to accelerate software development and testing.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum project management and full lifecycle testing.
  • Primarily remote work within Wisconsin, with occasional in-person meetings in Madison (up to twice per year).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing mentorship and technical leadership as needed.
  • Ensure application security, performance, scalability, and maintainability throughout the project lifecycle.
