Location: Ireland-based (Remote with occasional client support as required)

We are seeking an experienced Senior C# or VB.NET Software Contractor to engage with a leading Irish software consultancy. This is a long-term opportunity suited to a contractor or small development business that can provide dedicated support, ideally with the ability to allocate resources over time.- long term embed commitment to the company

You will be expected to work closely with the consultancy’s team and support them in client-facing activities, including public sector client meetings, offering technical input and ongoing delivery support.

Key Requirements:

• You are an independent contractor or run a small dev business with capacity to support a long-term engagement
• 5+ years of professional software development experience (C# or VB.NET)
• Strong client communication skills; comfortable attending and contributing to public sector client meetings in Ireland
• Experience delivering maintainable and scalable solutions
• Ability to work autonomously and manage priorities effectively

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, debug, and maintain desktop and web-based software applications
• Design and implement robust, efficient solutions using Microsoft technologies
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define and deliver project goals
• Support the client team during meetings with public sector customers, providing technical expertise
• Ensure code quality, maintainability, and documentation standards are upheld

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in C# or VB.NET (Visual Studio 2019)
• Experience with ASP.NET and/or .NET MAUI for mobile development
• Strong understanding of SQL Server, version control systems (e.g. GIT)
• Familiar with API development/integration, desktop applications, and mobile optimisation
• Exposure to barcoding/scanning, security best practices, and testing is advantageous
