As a Software Lead Developer, you will focus on software architectures and prototype implementations of software solutions and systems, customised for the aviation transport sector, especially in the airport sector.

This role requires in-depth knowledge in the design of scalable, high-performance software systems and the ability to lead a team through the entire implementation lifecycle, from conception to deployment.

In this role, you will be responsible for the successful execution and implementation of complex airport solution developments within time and budget constraints.You will work in and with cross-functional teams, actively participate in these developments and contribute to creating innovative, safe, efficient and robust products for airports.

Key Tasks

  • Leading the design and development of software architectures for modern systems used in airport operations.
  • Develop prototypes to provide concepts and introduce for product development.
  • Actively participate in projects and collaborate with stakeholders including product management, system engineers and customers to understand and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ensure that the software architecture is in line with Frequentis' strategic goals, with a focus on modularity, extensibility and scalability.
  • Promote the use of best practices in software development, including documentation, coding standards, testing methodologies and deployment processes.
  • Preparation, creation and integration of work packages from the projects.
  • Mentoring the software development team, including providing guidance on software architecture, system design and development best practices.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and trends relevant to aviation and air traffic management.
  • Participate in system integration and ensure the smooth delivery of software solutions to our aviation customers.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing systems to improve their performance, reliability and maintainability.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software development or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development.
  • In-depth knowledge of developing software systems with modern software architecture, e.g. microservices, cloud-native architecture, distributed systems.
  • Extensive experience with programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Javascript and Groovy, as well as experience with REST, SOAP, Oracle DB, PosgreSQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch and data streaming technologies such as Kafka, Redis, MQs.
  • Familiarity with software development tools such as Git, IntelliJ, Jenkins, Confluence
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows and experience with cloud platforms and container technologies
  • Understanding of aviation systems, air traffic management software or similar critical environments is an advantage.
  • Initiative and team player mentality
  • Business fluent in German and English
  • Willingness to travel 20-30%
