Job Title: Senior Network & Security Engineer

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Network & Security Engineer to design, implement and manage secure, high-performance network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Network security design and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Network Infrastructure Design & Implementation

• Design, deploy, and support the client’s LAN/WAN environments.
• Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, access points, and other network components.
• Monitor and optimize network performance to ensure reliability and minimal downtime.
• Implement and manage remote connectivity solutions, including VPN and SD-WAN technologies.

2. Network Security Management

• Develop and enforce security policies AND best practices for network infrastructure.
• Configure, manage, and monitor firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet, Checkpoint).
• Implement and support IDS/IPS systems to protect the client’s infrastructure.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
• Ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards such as ISO 27001, NIST and GDPR.

3. Incident Response & Troubleshooting

• Serve as the primary responder for network and security-related incidents.
• Investigate, analyse and resolve network and security issues in a timely manner.
• Respond to security alerts and take appropriate action, such as mitigation or escalation.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

4. Security Monitoring & Reporting

• Continuously monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and potential security breaches.
• Maintain network security logs and generate reports for management.
• Assist with security audits and risk assessments, identifying potential vulnerabilities.

5. Collaboration & Documentation

• Work closely with the client’s IT teams, external vendors, and relevant business units to implement network and security solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and support to resolve complex issues within the client’s environment.
• Document network configurations, security measures, incident resolutions, and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience:

• 7 plus year’s experience as a Network & Security Engineer.
• Network security design and implementation
• Develop HLD/LLD documentation and Visio-based network diagrams.
• Proven experience with enterprise network devices (routers, switches, firewalls), and security technologies such as IDS/IPS, VPN, WAF, Load Balancers.
• Familiarity with cloud and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and network troubleshooting.

• Hands-on experience with:
• Firewalls & VPNs: Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco FTD
• Network devices: Cisco, Juniper, Huawei
• SDN: Cisco ACI
• Monitoring tools: SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark
• Load Balancers/WAF: F5, Array
• NAC solutions: Cisco ISE, Forescout, Aruba
• Knowledge of encryption, secure network design, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automation and scripting tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Python).
• Familiarity with DNS Security tools (e.g., F5, Infoblox).
• Experience with enterprise email security platforms (e.g., Fortimail, Proofpoint).
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Certifications:

• Professional certifications such as CCNP, PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, JNCIA, or equivalent are highly preferred.
