The Role

Are you passionate about building powerful, scalable backend solutions that drive the future of innovative SaaS products? Lucanet’s Tax Management team is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer with a focus on Java to help modernize and elevate our core tax platform. You’ll join an experienced, collaborative team responsible for developing robust services and APIs for cutting-edge tax management applications. While this role can be performed remotely, we strongly prefer candidates based in North Rhine-Westphalia for occasional in-person meetings and collaboration.

What you'll do

• Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of efficient, scalable, and secure Java-based backend services and HTML-based frontends.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and QA to deliver performant and impactful tax solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and apply feedback to continually improve code quality and your development skills.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code following best practices and team standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic defects, learning to evaluate and debug more complex application problems.
• Participate in agile ceremonies (Scrum, Kanban) and proactively communicate progress and obstacles.
• Stay engaged with new backend technologies and best practices, fostering a mindset of continuous improvement and innovation.
  
  
  

What you bring to the table

• Experience with Java, object-oriented programming, algorithms, and core Java libraries.
• Experience with frontend technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with MVC frameworks like Spring.
• Basic experience building or maintaining RESTful APIs and integrating them with frontends.
• Understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MSSQL) and ability to write simple queries.
• Exposure to source control tools such as Git.
• Willingness to collaborate in an agile team and learn from experienced engineers.
• Good problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and an eagerness to grow.
• A degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or comparable practical experience.
