The Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH) at the University of Luxembourg is an interdisciplinary research centre committed to high-quality research and public dissemination in the field of contemporary history with a particular focus on digital methods and tools.

The C²DH's ambition is to venture off the beaten track and find new ways of doing, teaching and presenting contemporary history of Luxembourg and the history of Europe in the 20th and 21st centuries. The Journal of Digital History (JDH) is a pioneering international, academic, peer-reviewed, and open-access journal at the forefront of digital humanities. We are seeking a talented and motivated developer with a strong IT background to join our dynamic Luxembourg-based team. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical skills in the exciting field of digital humanities, elevating our project to new levels of sustainability and scalability. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enriching our existing application and creating interfaces that empower our editorial team.

Your role

• Design and implement intuitive dashboard views for data visualization and management
• Establish and maintain a robust Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline
• Develop cutting-edge software applications using modern programming languages
• Ensure our software meets the highest standards of performance and quality
• Troubleshoot and debug software issues efficiently
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify and solve problems
• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of our open-source platform
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions
  
  

Your profile

• Bachelor's / Master degree in Computer Science, Digital Humanities, or a related field
• Demonstrated experience in software development
• Proficiency in modern programming languages, particularly Python
• Knowledge of web frameworks, especially React
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and version control (GitHub)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Communication skills in English
