We're looking for Backend AI Engineers to help us supercharge how our schools and teams work.

About The Role

As a Backend AI Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in operationalising AI across Compass' internal tooling and product ecosystem. You will partner closely with developers, product managers, and business teams to design and implement scalable AI-integrated solutions that enhance productivity, improve decision-making, and enable our user experiences.

You will also:

• Help to create accessible AI tools and systems that empower non-technical and non-ML teams
• Shape backend strategies to support the scalable integration of AI infrastructure across Compass products
• Drive internal adoption of AI features, both developed in-house and sourced externally
• Design AI-powered workflows that improve productivity and enhance user experiences
• Build learning resources to support teams in understanding and applying AI effectively
• Share your expertise through internal channels to foster a culture of AI fluency and experimentation
  
  
  

Requirements


About You

This role is ideal for someone who is excited by emerging technologies, passionate about backend architecture, and eager to make AI practical and impactful across a variety of use cases.

We are looking for some who has:

• 3+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience, ideally in a modern cloud environment (e.g. C#/.NET)
• Proficiency in designing and implementing database solutions with experience in both SQL and NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB
• Proven experience integrating AI/ML models into production systems
• A keen interest in developing a high-quality product that not only meets but exceeds company objectives
• A genuine passion for software development and a proactive interest in staying up-to-date with new technologies and industry trends
• Strong understanding of modern product and engineering principles and practices. You understand agile methodologies and how to deliver value iteratively
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities. You can articulate complex technical concepts clearly and work effectively within a team
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team environment
