Software Engineering Tech Lead

Join DiscoverCars.com and help us scale the world’s leading global car‑rental marketplace. As a Software Engineering Tech Lead you will drive delivery, coach people, and partner closely with the Product department while working hand‑in‑hand with fellow Tech Leads, Engineers, QA, and SRE teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead delivery for a cross-functional team by planning sprints, break down epics, and ensuring timely, high-quality releases. 
  • Mentor and develop 4-6 software engineers; provide technical guidance, career support, and help shape hiring as the team expands.
  • Act as a full‑stack, hands‑on engineer, designing, building, and evolving user‑facing features and the backend services that power them using C#, .NET 8, ASP.NET Core, React, and modern cloud patterns; deliver clean, maintainable code and lead by example by consistently applying industry best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product department to identify any gaps in requirements, clarify missing information, and align on the most practical solution - maintaining momentum and focus across stakeholders
  • Champion code quality, security, and performance through code reviews, automated testing, and observability.
  • Drive continuous improvement of development processes, CI/CD pipelines, and operational practices alongside the SRE team.
  • Troubleshoot production incidents and lead root‑cause analysis, driving preventative actions.
  • Work effectively in an asynchronous, distributed setup, leveraging clear written communication and ad‑hoc calls when needed.


Requirements:

  • 7+ years of professional full‑stack experience delivering production software with .NET and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Proven experience building and coaching engineering teams, displaying authority that earns respect, and bringing ambition, intelligence, and structured thinking to the table.
  • Solid understanding of object‑oriented design, clean architecture, and RESTful API design.
  • Quick thinker and fast learner who can navigate legacy code and rapidly understand systems such as customer self-service, email marketing, referrals, and online check‑in.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Excellent concise communication skills, able to articulate ideas and trade‑offs clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in distributed, asynchronous environments.
