Data Science Manager (GCP)

As a member of the Brillio Engineering Team, your core purpose is to lead the application of Artificial Intelligence to solve critical challenges and drive innovation, with a strong emphasis on delivering tangible business value.

As the Senior Manager of Applied AI, you will lead a team of Software and Data Engineers, set the strategic direction, and oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of AI solutions, from conception and development to deployment and continuous improvement. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a passion for using cutting-edge AI tools to make practical, impactful applications that advance Brillio's mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the strategy, design, development, and deployment of AI-powered applications and services, with a focus on Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) stack.
• Drive the development and optimization of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions to enhance information retrieval and knowledge management capabilities.
• Build and manage a high-performing team of Software and Data Engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance in AI/ML best practices, ensuring the team adheres to software engineering principles and delivers robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
• Oversee the development of data pipelines and infrastructure required to support AI initiatives, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
• Architect and implement prompt engineering and model tuning strategies to maximize the performance and effectiveness of LLMs.
• Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and other departments to identify opportunities for AI applications and define product roadmaps.
• Contribute to the overall prioritization of Data and Technology initiatives by breaking down complex problems using Agile methodologies to articulate value/feasibility trade-offs.
• Build, maintain, publish, and monitor AI-driven Data Products which serve Operational and Analytical customers.
• Ensure AI solutions are integrated into the wider Digital Ecosystem, adhering to Software Engineering principles, including Version Control, CI/CD, Test Driven Development (TDD) and Data Origin Driven Development (DODD).
• Manage and coordinate with globally distributed development teams, ensuring effective communication and project delivery.

Required experience:

• 8-10 years of experience in software development or data operations, with a focus on AI/ML.
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing and directing technical teams in a fast-paced technology environment.
• Demonstrable experience in designing, developing, and deploying AI solutions on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proven experience in building and optimizing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions and working with Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with relevant AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Extensive experience with prompt engineering, model tuning, and evaluation techniques.
• Solid understanding of data engineering principles and experience building data pipelines for AI applications.
• Familiarity with globally distributed delivery models and experience managing remote teams.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Appropriate certifications or other evidence which demonstrates basic capability in the core competencies.

Represent a plus:

• Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) in addition to GCP.
• Experience in the healthcare or non-profit sector.
