The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, troubleshooting, and upgrading corporate IT systems and networks. This role ensures the smooth operation of IT services, supports end-users, and maintains optimal system performance, with a strong focus on security, cloud services, and system automation.
Must Have Responsibilities:
1. System Management:
➢ Install, configure, and maintain servers, networks, and related technology.
➢ Perform regular system updates, upgrades, and patch management.
➢ Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability.
➢ Optimize and automate routine tasks using scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) or orchestration tools. ➢ Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and ensure proper cloud governance. 2. Network Administration:
➢ Manage and configure network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers).
➢ Troubleshoot network issues and ensure network security through firewall rules, IDS/IPS, and network monitoring.
➢ Maintain VPN connections, remote access solutions, and secure network communication.
➢ Implement SD-WAN for efficient multi-location connectivity.
➢ Monitor and manage bandwidth usage, network capacity planning, and quality of service (QoS). 3. User Support:
➢ Provide tier-2 and tier-3 technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network issues.
➢ Maintain an IT helpdesk and manage ticketing systems.
➢ Train users on new systems, tools, and applications, ensuring proper IT policy compliance.
4. Security:
➢ Implement and manage comprehensive security policies and procedures.
➢ Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
➢ Manage antivirus, anti-malware, and endpoint detection & response (EDR) solutions.
➢ Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA), identity and access management (IAM), and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions.
➢ Ensure compliance with relevant security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA).
5. Backup and Recovery:
➢ Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity plans.
➢ Perform regular backups, ensure data integrity, and test recovery strategies.
➢ Manage cloud-based backup solutions and ensure backup replication across multiple geographic locations.
➢ Implement automated disaster recovery drills to minimize downtime.
6. Documentation:
➢ Maintain accurate and up-to-date IT documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
➢ Document changes and updates to the IT environment, ensuring transparency and compliance with IT audit standards.
➢ Maintain comprehensive documentation for security protocols and incident response.
7. Project Management:
➢ Plan, lead, and execute IT projects, including hardware and software rollouts, system upgrades, and migrations.
➢ Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and cross-functional teams to implement projects. ➢ Ensure IT projects are completed on time, within scope, and under budget.
➢ Lead cloud migration initiatives and manage hybrid infrastructure setups.
8. Automation and Monitoring:
➢ Implement and maintain monitoring tools for systems, networks, and security (e.g., Zabbix, SolarWinds, Nagios).
➢ Automate system provisioning, backups, and security compliance checks using DevOps practices.
➢ Set up automated alerts and notifications for system failures, resource utilization, and security breaches.
Must Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
- Experience with virtualization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms (Windows, Linux, macOS).
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) are a plus
