Senior Kotlin Backend Developer - Freelance

We are developing a cloud development platform for Kotlin and Koin users (kotzilla.io)

We aim to reduce maintenance time by a third for Kotlin applications by providing relevant services for developers' daily needs, with a strong focus on software architecture.

You will join a motivated team to propose a new approach to observability and development tools for software architecture.

You will be involved in the development of the Kotzilla Platform while helping to deliver new features and build a great dev tools platform.

Your missions:

• Develop new features and API to enrich the platform
• Analyze, understand, challenge, and implement product and business needs.
• Help coordinate with other team members on tech topics
• Ensure the greatest user experience possible: reliability of the platform, value-added services, cost efficiency for data processing
• Propose and challenge ideas to build the platform Dev really needs

Technical stack:

• Back-end: Kotlin, Ktor, Koin, Exposed, PostgreSQL, JUnit, TestContainers, Gradle, REST API.
• Cloud Infra: Google Cloud, Cloud Run, Google Pub Sub, Firebase.
• DevOps & automation, Docker, Github Actions.
• Tools: Jira, Notion.
• Work methodology: Kanban.

🏠 Currently Hybrid/Full remote organization (France Timezone +/- 2 hours max)

• You have significant and successful experience (minimum 5 years) in back-end
• You have successful experience in Kotlin (Ktor if possible) or Java backend application development.
• You know relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and know how to define the most appropriate ones for the services.
• You've got to genuinely care about quality and testing
• Knowledge in dependency injection and Koin framework

➕ Additional (optional):

• Experience in big data management and the ability to work with huge volumes of data and multiple data structures (lake of files, logs, …)
• Knowledge in NoSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch)
• Know how to use a messaging service such as Google Pub Sub (RabbitMQ …).
• Experience in startups.

• 3 months renewable
• Daily rate 450~600 €/day depending on profile
