About the GLS Studio team:

Studio is an internal product builder within Bettermile. We solve high-impact logistics challenges through rapid, user-centered product development.

Six years ago, a small team started to challenge the status quo. From wild greenfield concepts, a whole range of smart services eventually emerged, now known as Bettermile.

In early 2023, we started looking again for completely new challenges and solutions. We now have several ongoing projects. To achieve our goals, we are now looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join us in taking our product to the next level.

You will be taking care of:

• Writing infrastructure code to improve scalability and maintainability
• Designing and implementing security best practices (e.g. access roles, backend firewalling)
• Building and extending backend services in Kotlin with Spring Boot or Quarkus
• Designing and maintaining robust test strategies for backend systems
• Architecting new services and infrastructure components to support critical business flows
• Supporting the implementation of data pipelines using Python when needed
  
  

You check these boxes:

• Strong experience with Kotlin and backend development using Spring Boot or Quarkus
• Strong experience with relational databases and warehouses
• Solid knowledge of AWS and cloud-based infrastructure
• Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably in Pulumi
• Proficient in containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiar with designing secure, scalable, and testable backend systems
• Comfortable working in and contributing to a collaborative engineering culture
  
  

It is awesome if you also have:

• Experience with Python for data pipelines and understanding of job orchestration
• Ability to read and migrate Node.js code as part of legacy system transition
• Experience setting up greenfield services and infrastructure from scratch
• A mentoring mindset and the ability to support less experienced engineers
