Data Scientist

My client is based in Co Westmeath is currently recruiting for a Data Scientist to join the team. This is a perm role onsite 4 days per week. As a Data Scientist, you’ll play a pivotal role in unlocking the value hidden in complex data sets. Your insights will power smarter decisions, shape innovative solutions, and drive commercial outcomes. You’ll collaborate closely with leadership and stakeholders across multiple functions designing advanced analytics solutions, exploring predictive models, and building tools that bring data to life.

Responsibilities

• Analyse large and varied datasets to extract trends, patterns, and insights
• Develop and deploy statistical models and machine learning algorithms
• Translate technical findings into clear, business-focused narratives
• Build dashboards, visualisations, and reporting tools for multiple user groups
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support strategic projects
• Continuously explore ways to enhance analytics capability and value

Skills / Experience

• Degree (BSc, MSc, or PhD) in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 4 years’ hands-on experience in a data science or analytics role
• Proficient in Python, R, and SQL
• Strong grasp of machine learning techniques and predictive analytics
• Comfortable working with large, complex datasets and ambiguous problems
• Skilled at simplifying complex results for non-technical audiences
• Familiarity with data visualisation platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik
• Exposure to financial services or Insurance, is a strong advantage
• Capable project manager and confident engaging with senior stakeholders
