The University of Basel invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in Artificial Intelligence and Pediatric Data Science within the newly established Analytics and Informatics for Child Health (AICH) group, Department of Biomedical Engineering. This position is part of the Basel Research Centre for Child Health (BRCCH), offering a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment for impactful research at the intersection of AI, data science, and pediatric healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
– Conduct methodological and applied research in AI and machine learning for pediatric healthcare
– Focus on topics such as interpretability and explainability of AI models, fairness and bias mitigation in pediatric applications, and multimodal data integration and prediction (including clinical, imaging, and sensor data)
– Collaborate with clinicians and scientists, contribute to publications and conferences, and participate in interdisciplinary activities
Requirements
– Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
– Strong background in AI/ML methods
– Programming experience in Python and relevant frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, weights & biases, high-performance computing)
– Interest in clinical and biomedical applications of AI
– Strong motivation, curiosity, and collaborative spirit
– Fluency in English
