Description

At Amazon Games, our ambition is to create bold new experiences that foster community in and around our games. Our team of game industry veterans is developing and publishing live service AAA multiplayer games and developing original IPs, including New World: Aeternum and an upcoming title based on The Lord of the Rings, with our studios and teams in Seattle, Orange County, San Diego, Montreal, and Bucharest. Amazon Games also publishes best-in-class games working closely with our partners, leading with Lost Ark from Smilegate RPG, Throne and Liberty from NCSOFT, as well as the next major entry in the Tomb Raider series from Crystal Dynamics.

As a Game Designer, you will be responsible for creating engaging gameplay systems and features that align with the game's vision. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement and iterate on gameplay mechanics while ensuring high-quality deliverables within project timelines.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and develop compelling gameplay features, systems, and mechanics that align with the game's vision and player experience goals
  • Create and maintain detailed design documentation to effectively communicate concepts, requirements, and implementation details to team members
  • Collaborate with engineers to implement gameplay systems, providing clear specifications and iterating based on technical constraints
  • Partner with artists and animators to ensure gameplay mechanics are supported by high-quality visual feedback and appropriate animation timing
  • Balance and tune gameplay systems using data-driven approaches and player feedback
  • Build and iterate on gameplay prototypes to validate design concepts before full implementation
  • Participate in design reviews and playtest sessions to gather feedback and improve feature quality
  • Script gameplay logic and implement content using the game engine and internal tools

Basic Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in the Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience
  • Extensive experience as a game designer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on a third person action melee combat game
  • Shipped a AAA title as a game designer
  • Strong technical scripting skills
