Software Engineer - X Ads

xAI’s mission is to create AI systems that can accurately understand the universe and aid humanity in its pursuit of knowledge. The team is small, highly motivated, and focused on engineering excellence with a flat organizational structure. Engineers are expected to be hands-on, contribute directly to the mission, and have strong communication skills. The role involves working on a new project to integrate xAI’s advanced AI infrastructure into the X Ads Platform, focusing on building exceptional advertising products and systems at massive scale across bidding, auction, marketplace, ranking, prediction, and experience. Responsibilities include ideation, experimentation, implementation, and maintenance of distributed systems and product features, leveraging xAI’s infrastructure and AI stacks to enhance the advertising experience on X, and owning systems and products driving the majority of X’s revenue. Candidates should have 2+ years of experience with large-scale, high-throughput distributed advertising systems and experience in building large scale and performant advertising systems such as ads serving, recommendations, prediction, auction, bidding, marketplace, or experience. The tech stack includes Golang, Python, Rust, and gRPC. The interview process includes a phone interview, coding challenge, and team meet and greet, with interviews conducted in person when applicable. The role is based in Palo Alto, with candidates expected to be near the Bay Area or open to relocation.
