Machine Learning Scientist

Whatnot is the largest livestream shopping platform in North America and Europe, blending community, shopping, and entertainment. The Machine Learning Scientist role involves designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models and scaled solutions to solve 0 to 1 problems across various product surfaces including search, recommendation, growth, trust and safety, and fraud. Responsibilities include developing production ML algorithms, setting direction for ML development processes, contributing across the data science and ML stack, driving initiatives across product areas, designing and implementing data pipelines and systems supporting MLOps, and solving mission-critical problems unique to Whatnot’s livestream auction ecosystem. Candidates should have 4+ years of professional experience in ML systems and algorithms, a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, 1+ years of software or ML engineering experience, and proficiency in Python, SQL, PyTorch, LightGBM, FastAPI, and data warehouses like Snowflake. The role requires autonomy, leadership, strong communication, and collaboration skills in a remote environment.
