Our client, a leader in retail and convenience sector, is seeking to appoint a Global Head of Procurement to further establish and lead their developing procurement function. This is a high-impact leadership role, reporting directly to the CFO, with responsibility for shaping group-wide procurement strategy, driving cost optimisation, and building a reliable, efficient, and value-focused supply chain across diverse categories including fuel, foodservice, retail goods, indirect spend, and capital investment.


This is a rare opportunity to build a best-in-class global procurement function from the ground up, within a dynamic and ambitious organisation. You’ll play a key role in delivering real commercial impact while working closely with C-suite stakeholders across multiple regions.


ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, group-wide procurement strategy aligned with global business objectives and regional market dynamics.
  • Monitor international market trends, geopolitical risks, and supply chain disruptions to proactively manage supplier-related risks.
  • Champion responsible and ethical sourcing practices, embedding sustainability into supplier selection and procurement processes globally.
  • Lead strategic sourcing across both direct and indirect categories, ensuring consistency and value delivery across all international markets.
  • Build and manage high-impact supplier partnerships across multiple geographies, driving innovation, resilience, and commercial performance.
  • Lead global contract negotiations, ensuring optimal commercial terms, compliance, and service levels.
  • Oversee supplier audits, governance reviews, and performance benchmarking to maintain the highest standards of integrity and efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement systems, processes, and controls across all business units and regions.
  • Ensure procurement policies adhere to global regulatory frameworks and local compliance requirements.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, geographically distributed procurement and trading team.
  • Instil a culture of commercial excellence, strategic thinking, and accountability throughout the function.
  • Achieve cost optimisation and year-on-year savings targets across all spend categories.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to executive leadership on procurement KPIs, supplier performance, and market intelligence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with global teams to support international product launches and enhance customer experience.

ABOUT THE PERSON:

  • Proven procurement leader with 8+ years’ experience in retail, FMCG, or multi-site environments.
  • Energetic, commercially minded professional with a track record of delivering results.
  • Skilled negotiator with deep expertise in contract management, vendor relationships, and category leadership across a wide range of goods and services.
  • Data-driven decision maker with strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and experience using procurement/ERP systems.
  • Exceptional communicator and collaborator, capable of building relationships across all levels of the organisation and influencing key stakeholders.
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or a related field.
