Full Stack Software Engineer - Post-training

The post-training team at xAI transforms powerful pre-trained models to become steerable, versatile, and capable of understanding and addressing real-world challenges. The role involves developing user-friendly, high-performance data management and visualization tools, creating model evaluation platforms, and optimizing the efficiency of the entire post-training workflow. Responsibilities include building data management and visualization interfaces, model evaluation applications, research demos to explore AI product frontiers, and owning the end-to-end experience of created applications while collaborating with teams and cross functions. Ideal candidates are expert full-stack developers experienced in software engineering best practices (CI/CD), code quality, testing, and performance, and familiar with post-training workflows such as supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning from human feedback. The role is based in the Bay Area (San Francisco and Palo Alto), with candidates expected to be located near or open to relocation. The tech stack includes Python, TypeScript, React, Rust, and gRPC. The interview process includes a phone interview, coding assessment, technical sessions, and a presentation of past work and vision with xAI. All interviews are conducted via Google Meet.
