Law is at the heart of how we operate, and we’re looking for a Head of Legal to join us on the mission to help digital businesses keep money flowing effortlessly across borders, industries, and technologies.

Your Role At Xpate

This isn’t your typical legal role. You’ll be at the heart of our operations—translating complexity into clarity, enabling smart risk-taking, and shaping how xpate grows across borders.

• Be our legal compass, everywhere we grow: Provide full-spectrum legal support across xpate’s global footprint—including the EEA, UK, and Singapore—ensuring every move is grounded in confidence and compliance.
• Turn complexity into clarity: Advise on legal issues across all areas of business activity—from internal operations to structural divisions—delivering sharp, practical opinions that drive decisions forward.
• Own every contract, from start to signature: Lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of contracts with partners and clients—turning risk into resilience and ambition into agreement.
• Defend what matters: Represent xpate’s economic interests through proactive legal protection—managing claims, resolving disputes, and standing up for the business in court when needed.
• Embed compliance into momentum: Support compliance initiatives, while also overseeing legal aspects of product compliance and ensuring alignment with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies without hindering innovation or growth.
• Shape a stronger foundation: Enforce ethical standards and accountability within the organisation, promoting adherence to Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) frameworks.
• Playing coach: You’ll be the core expert driving our legal function — both the thinker and the doer.

• You have 5+ years of in-house or law firm experience and speak fluent English.
• You know contracts inside out: confident in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
• You bring fintech legal insight: experienced in financial services law and regulatory matters.
• You’re legally curious: about navigating diverse legal areas such as corporate, IP, employment, and data protection.
• You simplify the complex: great at breaking down legal topics for non-lawyers.
• You’re collaborative and solution-driven: love working with cross-functional teams and getting things done.
• You think globally: open-minded, innovative, and progressive—with a multi-jurisdictional mindset.
• Bonus points if you’ve worked in a fast-paced startup environment.
