Functieomschrijving
Job description:
Do you understand when something is safe enough, and do you know better than anyone how safe products form the basis of a safe and stable society? Do you enjoy connecting policy officers and technical specialists so that the essence of legislation is translated into technical requirements, and vice versa? Do you have the drive to improve the cybersecurity of products so that consumers and businesses can use them safely? Would you like to participate in discussions and decisions at an international level about what the norms and standards in the field of product cybersecurity should look like?
The RDI is preparing for the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). This European regulation imposes requirements on all manufacturers of products with digital elements that are offered on the European market. From hypervisors and firewalls to toys and video games, and from solar panels to industrial control systems, all products must be designed according to a security-by-design methodology, in which security risks are removed, and the product ultimately is affixed with the CE mark. The RDI advises policy officers on laws and regulations, works internationally on common agreements on norms and standards, and will soon supervise compliance with this regulation.
In your position as specialist, you will contribute to the creation and implementation of the CRA. Together with your colleagues, you will ensure international coordination in European standardization organizations such as CEN, CENELEC and ETSI so that new norms and standards in the field of cybersecurity can be created and complied with. Working internationally can be hybrid, but during onboarding or for certain issues, it is important to connect physically. You will work effectively with public and private organisations, and you will be in direct contact with policy colleagues from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Climate and Green Growth and the Ministry of Justice and Security. In addition, you will work closely with the inspectors who monitor compliance with the CRA, and you will be able to translate practical findings into effective standards and requirements for products. You will also be working in a team of 20 colleagues who, like you, are involved in the approval and standardisation of products on the European market. Your direct colleagues are highly trained technical specialists and advisors in the field of wireless communication, radio equipment, spectrum engineering, measuring and weighing equipment, hardware and software development, cyber security and AI. Within RDI, you will work together with other specialists, advisors and inspectors because your work is strongly intertwined with the work in other departments and directorates.
