Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Support professional to manage and support our application systems with a focus on General Insurance, Oracle, Java, and Analytics. This role combines both technical and functional expertise to ensure smooth and efficient operation of insurance applications, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and implementing improvements. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of insurance processes, application support experience, and proficiency in technologies such as Oracle and Java.
Key Responsibilities
Provide end-to-end application support for insurance-related applications, ensuring minimal disruption and timely issue resolution.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Oracle databases, Java applications, and system integrations.
Collaborate with functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Analyze system logs, identify performance bottlenecks, and recommend system optimizations to improve the functionality and efficiency of applications.
Act as a liaison between business users and technical teams to ensure clear communication and alignment on support priorities and requirements.
Support and maintain general insurance applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory and business requirements.
Monitor and report on application performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Assist in system upgrades, patches, and application configuration changes, ensuring minimal downtime and business continuity.
Support data analytics functions, providing insights and reports based on application data to support business decision-making.
Work closely with development teams to resolve technical issues and implement new functionalities in line with business needs.
Provide on-call support and emergency response as needed to address critical application issues.
Prepare and maintain system documentation, including application configurations, processes, and user guides.
Continuously improve support processes and service delivery, ensuring efficient resolution of issues within established SLAs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
7+ years of experience in Application Support, with a focus on General Insurance systems and processes.
Strong experience with Oracle database administration, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in Java and its application in insurance systems.
Techno-functional expertise, with the ability to understand both business and technical requirements.
Solid understanding of General Insurance business processes, including underwriting, claims, policy management, and regulatory requirements.
Experience in providing Analytics support, including generating reports, analyzing application data, and providing business insights.
Experience with incident management, change management, and problem-solving in a support environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
Experience with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with other insurance platforms or software (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek).
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and DevOps practices.
Knowledge of application monitoring tools and performance management.
Certification in Oracle or Java technologies would be an added advantage.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
