Project Manager

About The Role

Qatar Airways is pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join the Flight Operations Support Services (FOSS) team as a Project Manager to be based in Doha, Qatar.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for initiating, planning, execution, and monitoring of assigned projects, according to schedule and budget. You will be responsible for overseeing quality control throughout the project life cycle by managing delivery timelines, project risks, while also acting as a liaison with all project stakeholders to ensure effective project management.

Strategic Accountabilities

Specific responsibilities for the role include:

• Align with the Head of Department’s strategic direction by supporting project strategy development and execution, including clear goals, success criteria, and delivery plans.
• Promote agile, solution-oriented, and customer-centric project management practices tailored to Flight Operations.
• Lead the collaborative forum for Flight Operations strategy, centralizing IT initiative oversight and managing the annual IT budget.
• Advance project management maturity through automation, standardized documentation, and embedded governance practices.
  
  

Operational Accountabilities

• Develop and maintain realistic, well-resourced project plans to ensure delivery within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters.
• Track and report project performance proactively, covering progress, budget, schedule, resource use, change requests, risks, and mitigation actions.
• Ensure project documentation and deliverables are clearly defined, regularly updated, and delivered on time.
• Manage stakeholder expectations through structured engagement, balancing short-term needs with long-term goals.
• Provide timely, strategic reports to the Head of Department and Senior Management, ensuring transparency and alignment.
• Lead and support assigned team members by providing direction, coaching, and feedback, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
• Perform other department duties as required.

About You

The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

• Relevant Diploma/College or University qualifications in IT, Business, Aviation, or Management with a minimum of 7 years of job-related experience, preferably in complex, cross-functional projects.
• PMP or other equivalent Project Management Qualifications is desirable.
• Experience in Flight Operations, including familiarity with regulatory frameworks and operational systems (e.g., AIMS, AMOS, Lufthansa systems) preferred.
• Exposure to digital transformation initiatives such as eTechLog or similar aviation technology deployments preferred.
• Experience working within PMO structures or contributing to PMO governance, reporting, and portfolio-level planning preferred.
• Strong understanding and practical application of Project Management methodologies, including Agile and hybrid approaches.
• Knowledge of budgetary control, procurement processes (RFP/RFI), and vendor evaluation in a regulated environment.
• Highly developed planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multi-stakeholder projects under tight timelines.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills, especially in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Project, and Power BI), with demonstrated ability to leverage integrated tools—including AI-powered assistants like Copilot—for enhanced productivity and collaboration.
• Excellent English communication (written and spoken), with strong facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Ability to adapt to evolving priorities, manage ambiguity, and contribute to continuous improvement in PMO governance and reporting standards.
