Senior 3D Game Animator

Game Path is working with a small independent console game development studio based in the heart of Bordeaux’s vibrant tech and creative scene. We are actively seeking a Senior 3D Game Animator to join their growing team on a newly developed and original Platformer title.


The role is Permanent and Hybrid (3 days a week on site) – All applicants must be prepared to work on this basis and situated within a commutable distance to Bordeaux.


Role Overview

As a Senior 3D Game Animator, you will play a key role in bringing our characters and worlds to life. Working closely with the senior creative team, you’ll create high-quality, expressive animations that push the boundaries of character movement and storytelling in platformer games.


Responsibilities

  • Design, create, and implement high-quality 3D character and creature animations for a console-based platformer.
  • Collaborate with designers, artists, and programmers to ensure animations are responsive and enhance gameplay.
  • Work with motion capture data and hand-keyed animation to achieve dynamic, stylized results.
  • Mentor junior animators and provide constructive feedback to elevate the team’s output.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize animations for performance and visual fidelity.
  • Contribute to the development of animation pipelines and best practices.
  • Participate in creative discussions and help shape the game’s visual identity.


Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a 3D Animator in the video game industry, with at least one shipped console title.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in character and creature animation, ideally in stylised or platformer games.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard 3D animation software (Maya, Blender, MotionBuilder, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of animation principles, body mechanics, and character acting.
  • Experience working with game engines (Unreal Engine preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
  • Fluent in English; French is a plus.


Bonus Points

  • Experience with facial animation and rigging.
  • Familiarity with platformer game mechanics and player feedback systems.
  • Passion for storytelling through animation.
