Role: Network Support Engineer - Security (Junior)

Location: Wexford, (Onsite - Hybrid with a maximum of 2 days per month onsite for meetings if required at either of the client's office locations)

Contract / Permanent: 12 Months with further extension.

Start date: July 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Role:

The client is seeking a skilled and proactive IT professional to manage and secure our digital infrastructure. The role involves end-to-end certificate lifecycle management, administration of Linux environments (Red Hat, Debian), and implementation of robust security systems across Microsoft platforms. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in network security, scripting (PowerShell or Python), and managing tools such as Defender for Cloud, Checkpoint, and Cylance. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our IT operations.

Experience Level Required:

It is a mandatory requirement that the Resource proposed has the equivalent of junior or higher-level experience in this Role.

· A qualification in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology.

Key Deliverable:

The following non-exhaustive list of Key Deliverables are applicable to this Role.

• Certificate Lifecycle Management
• Oversee the full lifecycle of digital certificates, including issuance, renewal, revocation, and auditing.
• Administer and maintain Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) and Azure certificate infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot SSL/TLS issues and ensure secure certificate deployment across systems.

2. Linux Infrastructure Administration

• Maintain and support Linux-based systems (Red Hat, Debian) ensuring high availability and performance.
• Perform complex troubleshooting of Linux applications and services.
• Implement updates, patches, and configuration changes in line with security and operational policies.

3. Security Systems Oversight and Management

• Manage and secure Microsoft environments using tools such as Defender for Cloud, Server, and Endpoint.
• Administer and monitor third-party security platforms including Checkpoint, Cylance, and Skyhigh Web Gateway.
• Conduct regular security assessments and implement mitigation strategies.

4. Network Security and Maintenance

• Maintain and secure enterprise network infrastructure including firewalls, VPN gateways, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
• Monitor network traffic and respond to security incidents or performance issues.
• Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement secure network architectures.

5. Automation and Scripting

• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell or Python to streamline system administration tasks.
• Create scripts for monitoring, reporting, and configuration management.

Requirements Key Experience/Competencies/Skillsets:

The following Experience/Competencies/Skillsets are applicable to this Role.

• Certificate Lifecycle Management: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing certificates, including certificate authority, management of Active Directory Certificate Services, and Azure certificate and knowledge of SSL tools and troubleshooting.
• Linux Management: A minimum of 3 years’ experience managing and maintaining Linux servers and devices including Red Hat and Debian and experience of complex troubleshooting of Linux applications and service.
• Security System Management: A minimum of 3 years’ experience managing and securing Microsoft environments and experience of Defender for Cloud, Defender for Server and Defender for Endpoint, Checkpoint, Cylance and Skyhigh Web Gateway.
• Network Security and Maintenance: A minimum of 3 years’ experience maintaining and securing networks, including firewalls, VPN gateways, IPS etc.
• Automation and Scripting: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in PowerShell or Python scripting.
