Laine Neural Network SA is a Swiss LegalTech company building an international terminal that automates legal drafting through generative AI and machine learning. The terminal will connect end-users with licensed lawyers while complying with data protection and professional rules in every jurisdiction.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced, visionary CTO based in Switzerland to guide our Engineering, AI/ML, DevOps, Cyber-security, Infrastructure and Full-stack teams. You will set the technical direction, guarantee security and reliability, and steer Laine from beta launch to global scale.

Responsibilities

• Define, own, and communicate the long-term technology roadmap, including the strategic development and evolution of our SaaS platform, aligned with product and business objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and grow cross-functional teams covering Engineering (front-end, back-end, databases), AI/ML, DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure.
• Design and oversee a secure, scalable architecture for multi-tenant AI services, microservices, and human-in-the-loop workflows, ensuring the robust foundation for our global SaaS offering.
• Establish and refine CI/CD, observability, and incident-response processes to ensure high availability and rapid delivery.
• Oversee cyber-security best practices, conduct risk assessments, and support ISO 27001 / SOC2 certifications.
• Oversee database strategy (relational and NoSQL) to ensure performance, compliance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Legal, Product, and Operations to meet jurisdiction-specific regulations and professional rules.
• Report progress, metrics, and risks to the executive team and board.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering or a related field.
• 10 + years in senior engineering roles, including 5 + years leading multi-disciplinary technology teams.
• Demonstrated success delivering AI/ML products at scale in regulated industries (LegalTech, FinTech, HealthTech, etc.); background in or exposure to the legal sector is a strong plus.
• Proven expertise with cloud platforms and modern DevOps practices.
• Solid grounding in relational and NoSQL database design, optimisation and operations.
• Strong understanding of data-protection legislation (GDPR, Swiss FADP) and relevant professional-ethics rules.
• Language: Fluent in English (mandatory); French preferred.
• Swiss residency (or eligibility to work from Switzerland) and willingness to travel occasionally to Ghent (Belgium) and Dubai (UAE).

Skills

• A clear understanding of Python and JavaScript.
• Practical experience with LLM frameworks and tools (e.g. LangChain, CrewAI, RAG pipelines).
• Mastery of containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and observability stacks.
• Database-performance tuning, backup/restore strategies and data-migration planning.
• Security best practice: encryption-at-rest/in-transit, zero-trust networking, SAST/DAST, IAM and secrets management.
• Agile leadership, stakeholder management and budgeting.
