About The Teams

The Shuttle team builds next-generation content migration tools that help customers move their data quickly and securely from on-premises systems or competing cloud platforms into Box. This strategic project focuses on improving efficiency, speed, scalability, and ensuring valuable metadata travels with customer files - empowering users to leverage intelligent content management immediately after migration.

The Search team powers content discovery across millions of users and billions of documents stored in Box. As browsing becomes less practical due to growing data volumes, Search has become essential for connecting knowledge workers with critical information through user-facing products and APIs. The team focuses on building scalable distributed systems using cutting-edge search technologies like Elasticsearch to enhance productivity across multiple Box products.

WHY BOX NEEDS YOU?

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer skilled in Python who can contribute across backend services supporting either or both Shuttle’s bulk migration capabilities or Search’s powerful discovery platform. You will work on high-scale distributed systems solving complex challenges related to performance optimization, microservices auto-scaling, data integrity during migrations or search indexing accuracy.

Your contributions will directly impact how thousands of enterprise customers manage their most important business content every day.

What You'll Do

• Develop new backend features focused on high scale and performance using Python.
• Design and implement auto-scaling solutions for microservices.
• Solve challenges related to distributed systems at scale.
• Measure system performance; identify bottlenecks; optimize accordingly.
• Build internal tools supporting testing automation, deployment pipelines & product support.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across geographies (Poland & USA).
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups and sprint planning.
• Contribute code reviews ensuring quality standards are met consistently.
  
  

Who You Are

• You have 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in Python; familiarity with other scripting languages like Java, JavaScript/Node.js or PHP is a plus.
• Experienced working within Linux environments.
• Comfortable working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Knowledgeable about container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB preferred but not required.
• Strong communicator who meets deadlines reliably while collaborating effectively within teams.
• Passionate about learning new technologies & applying them pragmatically in production environments.
• Fluent English speaker capable of working seamlessly across international teams.
