You'll design and build real-time backend systems and API integrations that power PF1's trading infrastructure. Your work will drive critical trading features, enable platform scalability, and ensure smooth performance for thousands of users.

Requirements


𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝟑 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐎𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬

• Build and deliver critical platform integrations before PF1 launch
  
  

Design and implement robust API and real-time data solutions that enable core functionality across trading platforms.

▸ Develop Python-based APIs to integrate with MatchTrade, TradeLocker, NinjaTrader, QuantTower, and others

▸ Deliver real-time data feeds and message handlers using WebSockets and RabbitMQ

▸ Ensure low-latency, high-availability performance suitable for production trading systems

▸ Write scalable, well-documented microservices using the Quart framework

• Strengthen platform scalability and deployment infrastructure (month 1-3)
  
  

Establish a high-performance backend architecture that can support future platform growth and feature expansion.

▸ Implement containerized microservices architecture using Docker and AWS ECS

▸ Contribute to infrastructure-as-code systems via Terraform

▸ Design database structures (SQL/NoSQL) optimized for real-time operations

▸ Apply strong observability and monitoring tools to maintain performance visibility

• Rapidly ship backend features that directly support traders (ongoing)
  
  

Work closely with product and PF1 leadership to release backend features aligned with user needs and business goals.

▸ Own the backend development of tools like risk management modules and trading enhancements

▸ Iterate quickly with clear, testable code and fast deployment cycles

▸ Collaborate across engineering and product to align on priorities and execution speed

▸ Support internal QA and deployment readiness with unit and integration testing best practices.

Candidate Profile

▸ 5+ years of hands-on experience in backend development with Python, preferably using async frameworks like Quart or FastAPI

▸ Strong knowledge of API design and integration - especially REST and WebSocket-based systems

▸ Experience working with RabbitMQ, Docker, and cloud environments like AWS (particularly ECS)

▸ Solid understanding of microservices architecture and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform

▸ Ability to build fast and ship fast — comfortable in high-velocity, iterative environments

▸ Proficient in real-time data handling, performance tuning, and system observability

▸ Collaborative, self-driven, and able to work independently in remote teams across time zones

▸ Familiarity with trading systems or fintech infrastructure is a strong plus.
