Software Engineer

Software Developer - Java/Python, Reading, Hybrid, Perm.

Newly created Software Developer opportunity due to growth; you will collaborate with project partners to design and implement SaaS solutions for a large, high profile, European programme.

This role is crucial in advancing standards and protocols for long-term digital strategy and contributing to the creation of a registry for finding and integrating digital preservation software tools and services.

Responsibilities

• Develop software services for digital archiving and trusted digital repositories.
• Integrate SaaS, supporting specifications, protocols, and data mapping/transformation.
• Contribute to creating a registry for software tools and services.
• Apply and advance standards and protocols for long-term digital preservation.
• Engage with early adopters to validate and refine models and tools.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proficiency in programming in Java (and/or Python).
• Experience with developing cloud hosted software solutions.
• Design, development and use of REST APIs.
• Familiarity with containerization such as Docker and k8s.
• Experience of tools and techniques for data and metadata transformation, mapping, packaging and exchange, especially using json and XML.
