Title: Network Support Engineer
Location: Schaumburg, Illinois
Hybrid: Onsite 3 days per week (Team is typically onsite on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays)
12-month contract to start with potential for extension
The Network Support Specialist/System Administrator will be responsible for supporting all aspects of network design, implementation, and support of the company’s infrastructure. Additional responsibilities include providing critical software and hardware support services to company employees and contractors.
Required Skills & Experience
- High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years relevant work experience.
- Preferably completed related training and/or certifications, such as Network +, VCTA, VCP, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Microsoft Server 2016
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure technology, such as but not limited to, LAN/WAN/WLAN technology, Radius, Fortinet Firewall / WAF, Meraki, Veeam, VMware vSphere 6 or higher, SQL Server, MS SQL/MySQL, SAN (StoreVirtual, NetApp, Nimble), Cyberark SSO, Dell and HPe Server Hardware, MS SCCM/WSUS, Windows Server 2008 and higher, Microsoft Active Directory, and MS Exchange Online, Microsoft Azure, phone and security systems.
- Experience in DNS, Domain, SSL certificate management.
- Experience working in the Azure cloud environment, maintaining hybrid infrastructure.
- Experience designing and supporting hybrid Microsoft SQL Database environments.
- Must be able to develop process, procedures, solution proposals, and action/project plans.
- Experience planning, testing, and executing server software and hardware implementations.
- High level of written communication and documentation skills.
- Knowledge in ITIL processes of Problem Management, Service Delivery, and Continual Service Improvement.
- Must be disciplined, dynamic and flexible to manage multiple projects and tasks, work effectively to assist coordinating work within the Engineering team to meet ongoing and overlapping deadlines.
What You Will Be Doing
- Support current network infrastructure, recommends, and implements modifications or new technology that enhances the reliability, security, productivity, and efficiency of the IT infrastructure.
- Manage support cases in ticketing system (Jira)
- Provide end-user hardware and application support.
- Develop and maintain documentation of designs, on-going operations, and administration of the infrastructure.
- Update engineering and end-user support tickets assigned, keep accurate records and networking documentation.
- Install, configure, and monitor network equipment
- Monitor computer systems to improve network performance for all systems.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate networking issues to other employees and management.
- Perform disaster and data recovery procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems.
- Support business users by responding to issues from internal and external users related to application, network, infrastructure, or hardware.
