Lead Developer for Self-Service Portal

About the role

Our IT unit manages insurance systems across the Baltics and Scandinavian countries. We work on a broad scope of various in-house projects to support our primary business growth. As Cloud citizens, our daily work revolves around cloud-based solutions. We are constantly evolving and seeking fresh perspectives, which is why we are looking for a new addition to our team.

What are you going to do?

• Your code reviews have developers doing a double-click of surprise!
• You know what it takes to develop & support solutions used by the most important companies in Nordics and thousands of clients globally. You recognize the unique IT security demands and rigorous non-functional requirements of externally accessible systems. This includes essentials like zero-downtime deployments and robust, fault-tolerant processes.
• Solving the “business need” is the most important goal for us (the team). We enjoy creating exceptional tools/solutions/software for business. Agile way of working and logical thinking are “tools” you will use daily.
• You know how to write high-quality code. You have learned that following architectural/technical best practices makes life much easier.

What do we expect from you?

Must have

• 5+ years of professional web development experience with .NET
• Strong knowledge of C#/.NET and SQL
• Experience with relational databases and good data design principles. You could optimize slow working query in SQL Server
• Proficiency in RESTful services and WEB API
• Experience in developing, deploying, and supporting software across the full Continuous Delivery life-cycle
• Solid experience with version control, continuous integration, deployment, and configuration management tools
• Understanding of and experience with modern software design principles and practices
• Experience in building scalable, high-performing applications
• Basic understanding of planet Azure
• Day-to-day responsibilities require a good/excellent level of Latvian and English to communicate with clients and colleagues (also from other countries)
• Good argumentation skills
• High sense of responsibility and risk awareness
• Team player spirit with a natural appetite for learning, challenging yourself and sharing knowledge
• You can ask the right questions to find the “devil” hidden in requirements
• Retrospectives benefit from your suggestions
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for your work
• Ability to think critically and implement solutions effectively
• Experience in estimating development effort
• Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
• Delegating tasks and organizational abilities

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure services, infrastructure as code (Bicep), and YAML-based build/deploy pipelines
• Familiarity with popular web application frameworks like React and libraries such as jQuery

.NET 8, .NET MVC, Azure (Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Service Bus), Optimizely CMS, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, jQuery, KnockoutJS
