WAAGNER-BIRO LUXEMBOURG STAGE SYSTEMS

Waagner-Biro Luxembourg Stage Systems S.A. is part of the Waagner-Biro Stage Systems Group, one of the world's largest suppliers of stage technology, with headquarters in Austria. As one of the global market leaders, the company develops and installs stage technology systems for opera houses, theatres, music halls, multi-purpose halls, and cruise ships. The main focus at the Luxembourg location in Rodange is developing the safety-related control system for the stage machinery "Computer-Aided Theatre" (C⋅A⋅T), which uses state-of-the-art technology to control the upper stage and lower stage machinery in more than 200 venues worldwide.

Task Description

The Waagner-Biro Stage Systems group has confirmed its intention to significantly reduce its carbon footprint, and has initiated the first steps for evaluation, compensations and certification together with the group Climate Partner (https://climate-id.com/de/MNNMNI) with focus on our headquarters in Vienna and our office operations and travels. In order to proceed in this, Waagner-Biro Luxembourg Stage Systems would like to offer an internship/Project Work to work on the following tasks:

  • Office:
  • Evaluation of current carbon footprint of our offices, storage sites and operations in Luxembourg: analysis of status quo and suggestions for optimisations incl. quantitative figures.
  • Our products and projects:
  • Evaluation of current power consumption and carbon footprint of our reference system design (control electrical installation and computer control system) on basis of the installation at Grand Theatre Luxembourg: analysis of status quo and suggestions for optimisations incl. quantitative figures.
  • Conceptual evaluation and comparison of our reference design to other carbon saving concepts as promoted by market competition (power regeneration when lowering loads / braking, switching off installation overnight, centralise power supply units).

Our Requirements

  • Studies of Environment Management / Sustainable Development or equal
  • Studies of Electrical Engineering and passionate about electronics
  • Analytical Thinking
  • Programming Skills in Python or C++ or similar
