We have an opportunity for a Backend Engineer with Python to contribute scaling up an innovative product in the debt collection (invoice-to-cash) industry.
The employer (our client) is a Swedish technology scale-up that establishes a development team in Bucharest, as part of the company's strategy to target becoming a leader in the European consumer billing market.
The product is mainly used by utilities or telecom providers to handle their billing and payments processing with their customer base.
This is a great opportunity to have an impact on the future of the product, rethinking new features or refactoring the code for better scalability and performance. The organization breathes the spirit of "you build it, you own it" and puts a big focus on product and customer.
Your main responsibilities will revolve around the following:
- Standardize & Scale - Help shape a platform that’s ready to grow into new European markets. You’ll refactor, optimize, and test the systems so they can handle more transactions;
- Tackle Tech Debt: Fine-tune existing solutions so they run smoothly for larger clients, higher traffic, and increased complexity;
- Create Real Value: Dive into coding, requirement analysis, and testing to build features that clients (businesses) - and their customers (consumers) - will love;
- Learn & Collaborate: Work side by side with other developers, share fresh ideas and keep the platform moving forward;
- The tech stack used by the team comprises: Python (home built framework), PHP, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Dynamo DB, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
This role is for you if you have:
- At least 4 years of professional experience using your Python skills on products with real-world impact;
- Familiarity with PHP or open to pick it up, along with other languages or technologies;
- Knowledge of AWS, or any other cloud platform is a big plus;
- A solid sense of ownership - you take responsibility for the code your write, from development and deployment to monitoring and maintenance;
- A product-first mindset - prioritize user value, long term maintainability and cross-functional collaboration.
Why you should consider this role?
- You'll have an impact on the growth of a product that disrupts the typical debt collection processes;
- The work is hybrid, with 2 days in the office (Bucharest) - the location is currently being decided on;
- CIM only;
- Competitive salary, 30 days of holidays, additional days off, medical services, meal vouchers.
