Senior Engineer - Transmission Network

Role: The Senior Engineer – Transmission Network participates in design and leads implementation of Core42 DC Interconnect (DCI), including Optical Transport Networking (OTN) and Dense Wavelength-division Multiplexing infrastructure ensuring solution reliability and performance.

The Senior Engineer – Transmission Network optimizes traffic patterns and deployment processes across OTN, and controls efficient utilization of DWDM hardware resources.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Telecom Engineering.
• 5+ years’ experience in DWDM/OTN technology.
• Experience in cloud industry and Service Provider environment is highly desirable.
• Extensive experience in DCI network implementation and operations.
• Expert level knowledge in DWDM/OTN network technologies.
• Expert level certificate from Vendors like Ciena, Nokia, etc. is a plus.
• Expertise in basic planning, implementation & troubleshooting of DWDM/OTN networks including MS-OTN but not limited to Flex Grid, Super-Channels, Coherent Optical Transmission, CDC, Layer 1 Encryption.
• Experience in implementation & troubleshooting of Fiber Cable (Outdoor/Indoor).
• Expert in using testing equipment (OSA, Ethernet Analyzer, OTDR, OLS/PM, etc).
• Knowledge about Data Centers and their Interconnect requirements.
• Team player, self-motivated, willing to learn, result oriented, willing to share knowledge.
• GCC Driving license is highly desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Revise DWDM/OTN network expansions HLD/LLD, create implementation plans and assist with completing changes in production environments.
• Design of WAN/LAN scalable network solutions including Wavelengths selection, Mux/Transponders, Amplifiers etc.
• Create presentations and present DWDM/OTN solutions to customers.
• Validate and approve configuration baseline templates for deployments and security hardening guides (i.e. encryption) as per the best practices.
• Communicate with internal clients/WAN Service Providers to provide the optimal WAN architecture for Platform or Client needs.
• Prepare and review User Acceptance Test documents, assist with complex tests (e.g. high availability tests between DCs).
• Plan complex change requests, maintenance windows and deployments which includes vital network traffic flows (i.e. node upgrades, client service migrations etc.).
• Monitor network performance indicators and recommend enhancements by performing gap analysis, identifying alternative solutions and offer actionable improvement plans.
• Provide L3 support by serving as the final tier for resolving issues escalated from Level 2 support teams, conducting thorough problem analysis, and communicating effectively with vendor technical support.
• Accountable for the timely delivery of projects/tasks; in the event of anticipated delays, responsible for escalating to a senior colleague, team lead, or Project Management Office (PMO).
• Maintain network changes documents and control quality of all network-related documentation.
• Being ready to work in office and Data Centers.
• Collaborate with security management teams to ensure that solutions components are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.
• Work closely with process management and operational teams and contribute to process development standardizing collaboration framework and improving collaboration efficiency.
