Cybersecurity Engineer – Microsoft Defender | Hybrid Role

We’re looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer to join our dedicated team, delivering best-practice security engineering, proactive threat management, and automation across diverse ecosystems.
Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite in Dublin 8; 2 days remote)
Start Date: On or before 28th July 2025
Contract Duration: 6 months
Working Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7.5 hours/day between 08:00–17:30 (excluding lunch and public holidays). Some occasional out-of-hours availability may be required with compensation.
About the Role: In this role, you will be instrumental in elevating cybersecurity posture using Microsoft’s Defender suite and related security toolsets. You’ll collaborate across technical teams and stakeholders to implement use cases, conduct environment reviews, and deploy tailored security solutions.

What You'll Do:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define, document, and deploy cybersecurity use cases
- Conduct security environment reviews and propose actionable improvements
- Configure and deploy Microsoft Defender tools across endpoints, identities, and cloud services
- Support security operations including threat hunting, incident response, and analytics
- Deliver technical guidance and share knowledge with internal cyber teams
- Ensure alignment with compliance standards, baselining, and security best practices
- Participate in meetings, assessments, and knowledge-sharing sessions
Essential Experience & Skills (5+ Years):
- Microsoft Defender Suite: Endpoint, Office 365, Cloud Apps, Identity, Mobile Threat Defence
- Microsoft Security Tools: Intune, Endpoint Manager, Microsoft 365 Defender portal, Azure AD, Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM)
- Security Operations: Incident detection, investigation, response, MITRE ATT&CK familiarity, threat hunting, compliance monitoring
- Automation: PowerShell scripting, API integrations, security automation tools
- Frameworks: Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework, Well-Architected Framework, Microsoft Cybersecurity Reference Architecture
- Implementation: Proven track record of delivering cybersecurity use cases in enterprise or public sector environments
Mandatory Qualifications & Requirements:
- Active Microsoft security certification (e.g., AZ-500, SC-100, SC-200, SC-300, SC-401)
- Degree or higher in Computer Science or related IT discipline
- Fluent English: Native speakers must indicate on CV; non-native speakers require CEFR Level C2 or equivalent fluency
- Full, clean driving licence (may be requested)
- Eligibility to work under EU GDPR regulations
- Availability for hybrid working with some flexibility
