Job Description

The Junior Software Engineer is responsible for the development, maintenance and operational support of Vii systems. They are involved at all stages of the software delivery lifecycle, solving customer or business problems through innovation and application of best practice software development techniques, including agile and lean thinking.

Junior Software Engineers will proactively maintain an up-to-date knowledge of best software design and development practices, software development tools and frameworks as well as software development methodologies.

You will be working closely with key stakeholders to clarify requirements and iterate on implemented solutions, and providing technical support and guidance to stakeholders and other members of the technical team

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have

  • 1-3 Years of Software Engineering experience
  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Computer Science with a focus on software development is required.
  • Basic competency in at least one of the following languages: C#, Java, C++
  • Basic grasp of OOP and SOLID principles
  • Experience building at least one web application using any framework or language.
  • Basic skills using foundational web technologies HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
  • Basic skills in the design and use of at least one SQL or NoSQL database.
  • Basic knowledge of writing unit tests using frameworks such as NUnit, XUnit or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of at least one source control tools such as Git, SVN, Mercurial
  • Basic server/system administration in Linux and/or Windows
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
