Jumpstart Program – UX/UI Design Internship (Cohort 2, 2025)

Jumpstart is our flagship internship—this time laser-focused on turning talented creatives into confident, job-ready UX/UI designers who can work hand-in-glove with developers. 

• Second cohort (just 15 seats). Smaller group, deeper 1-on-1 mentorship from senior designers & front-end engineers. 
• Real production challenges. You’ll ship Figma components that become live React code—no “concept only” briefs here. 
• Cross-functional speaker series. Monthly fireside chats with product managers, accessibility advocates, and racing-industry insiders.

What You’ll Do 

• Co-design our evolving Design System. Work side-by-side with developers to create reusable, accessible components, tokens and documentation. 
• Map & refine user journeys. Turn racetrack observations and analytics into clear wireflows and polished UI mock-ups. 
• Run usability sessions. Plan, conduct and analyse quick-turnaround tests—then iterate fast. 
• Prototype & hand-off. Build clickable prototypes in Figma (or code-linked Storybook) and collaborate with engineering on pixel-perfect implementation. 
• Showcase a passion project. Demo your own UX improvement idea during our “Demo Track” showcase—bonus points if it makes it to production. 

What We’re Looking For 

• Fundamentals in visual design, layout, typography, colour & accessibility. 
• Figma (or similar) proficiency—components, auto-layout, variants, styles. 
• Evidence of design work—portfolio pieces, uni projects, personal apps, hackathons. 
• Curiosity, reliability and a team-first mindset—comfortable pairing with devs and learning from user feedback. 
• Eligible to work from Australia (we’re Melbourne-based but remote-friendly). 

Nice-to-Haves 

• Exposure to design systems or token-based theming. 
• Familiarity with basic HTML/CSS so you can speak the same language as engineers. 
• A love of motorsport—or at least the willingness to learn why apexes matter!
