Python Developer (Backend and Full-stack) Pharma

We are seeking a talented and motivated backend developer and a full stack software developer to join work within the data science and software development team of our client in Pharmaceutical manufacturing. The primary responsibility of this role is to design, develop and implement in-house software solutions. You collaborate with various stakeholders to fine tune user requirements and functional specifications. You design software solutions using a microservice based software architecture. You write server and client side applications using event or request driver architectures. You write automated unit, integration and end to end tests. You mentor junior software developers and provide constructive feedback during code review sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • consult stakeholders, collect and document user requirements and functional specifications
  • translate requirements into a software architecture (you will be assisted by a senior software developer or architect)
  • develop scalable, performant and reliable software solutions
  • write clean, maintainable and efficient code
  • mentor junior software developers, provide technical guidance and support
  • conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards
  • identify and resolve technical issues and challenges
  • stay up to date with latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our in-house solutions remain cutting edge


Skills & Qualifications

  • Master degree in computer science, engineering or related field
  • 7 years of work experience
  • proven track record of developing applications using Python
  • Fullstack: experience with HTMX, HTML, CSS and JavaScript (vanilla or Vue JS)
  • profound understanding of threading, multi-processing and asynchronous programming
  • good understanding of software design patterns
  • good understanding of functional and object oriented programming
  • experience with various Python web frameworks (Fast API, Flask, etc.)
  • experience with writing test code (Pytest, Cypress)
  • experience with message bus technologies (Kafka, Rabbit MQ), caching systems (Redis) and relational and non-relational databases (Postgres, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra, S3, etc.)
  • experience with DevOps (Jenkins, OpenShift), Docker containers and version control (git, GitLab)
  • basic notions of network topologies and their impact on software design
  • strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • fluent in English and Dutch
  • analytical mindset, pragmatic problem solver
  • ability to collaborate in cross functional teams
  • previous experience in the pharmaceutical or other strongly regulated industry is a plus
