Purpose Of The Role & Responsibilities
The Connectivity Engineer is a critical role within our Product Development Team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining connected vehicle technologies and solutions. This position focuses on creating seamless and secure communication systems between vehicles and Cloud systems, ensuring the integration of telemetry & telecommand functions and Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.
- Design, develop, and test secure V2C (Vehicle-to-Cloud) communication systems, focusing on telemetry, telecommands, eCall and OTA updates.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to telemetry, telecommands, and cellular technologies (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+, LTE, 5G NSA/SA).
- Specify, review, and validate the SIM (eUICC/UICC) profile contents and features.
- Create and execute validation test cases for MMOTA (Multi-Module Over-the-Air) updates to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Address and resolve issues related to Connectivity Master Modules (GWM, TCU, APIM) ; and validate the systems and architecture behind the V2C communication systems.
- Expertise in SIM/eSIM technologies (UICC/eUICC) and cellular communication systems, ensuring reliable connectivity and seamless integration within telematics and Vehicle-to-Cloud ecosystems.
- Perform FordPass testing to verify telecommands (Command&Control) functionality and ensure proper telemetry flow.
- Analyze connected vehicle data to assess system performance, identify anomalies, and support enterprise use cases for monetization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Ford Motor Company Cloud Team, Mobile Network Operator (MNO), and regulatory authorities to ensure a robust system architecture and compliance with regulations.
- Document technical specifications, test results, and system architectures.
- Stay updated on automotive connectivity, cellular technologies, and industry standards.
Experience
• BSc/MSc in electrical, electronics, communication engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience on product development or system engineering.
• Proven analytical skills and experience making decisions and alogrithmic thinking capability.
• Software development, requirement management or testing experience on E/E component product development.
• Basic knowledge for LIN, CAN, Ethernet communication.
• Basic knowledge for any software language such as C, C++, Python etc. and software development process.
• Knowledge of cellular network technologies, experience in feature testing, or basic SQL skills are a plus.
Education
• BSc Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Communication engineering (preferably MSc Degree in engineering)
