Business Data Analyst

About the Role

We are seeking a Business Data Analyst – Team Lead with a strong background in Data Governance to join our team on a long-term contract based in Toronto. This is a leadership opportunity for someone who can bridge the gap between business and data, drive governance practices, and lead a team toward delivering high-impact data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Business Data Analysts on data governance and analytics initiatives
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define data quality rules, ownership, and metadata
• Support the implementation of enterprise data governance tools and frameworks (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation)
• Analyze and document business data requirements, data flows, and process maps
• Develop and maintain data dictionaries, glossaries, and governance documentation
• Identify data quality issues and work with teams to remediate them
• Act as a liaison between business, data stewards, and technical teams

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience as a Business/Data Analyst with data governance exposure
• Proven experience in leading or mentoring teams
• Strong understanding of data management principles, metadata, lineage, and stewardship
• Hands-on experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Talend, Alation, etc.)
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills
• Experience working in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, utilities) is a plus
• Knowledge of SQL or BI tools is an asset
