SENIOR AWS CLOUD ENGINEER

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer for a full-time (40 hours/week) remote position in Ukraine.

Our client is an international software development company with offices in the US and Europe, specializing in end-to-end cloud transformation and scalable system architectures. Their solutions power products in fintech, aviation, edtech, and healthcare. The current project involves AWS migration for a cloud-based AI platform operating in a compliance-sensitive domain.

In this role, you’ll design and implement secure, scalable AWS infrastructure, contributing to the full delivery lifecycle — from architecture to deployment.

Key Requirements

2+ years of recent, hands-on AWS experience — this is a Senior role, so up-to-date practical knowledge is essential.
Solid skills with Terraform (or similar Infrastructure as Code tools), CI/CD pipelines, and Docker.
AWS certification (Associate level or higher) is a strong plus and helps demonstrate proven AWS expertise.
Minimum confident Upper-Intermediate (B2+) English is required — Intermediate level is not sufficient, especially for spoken communication.

Requirements

Note: This is a Senior role requiring up-to-date, hands-on experience — the 1–2 years mentioned refer to recent work, not something from earlier stages of the career.

2+ years of experience with backend programming languages (e.g., Node.js, .NET, Python).
2+ years of experience designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure using AWS.
1+ years of experience with at least one Infrastructure as a Code technology like Terraform (preferred), AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, AWS CDK, or similar.
1+ years of experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Bitbucket, or similar).
1+ years of experience creating and running container-based applications using Docker (Kubernetes/EKS knowledge is an advantage).
Strong understanding of security concepts (IAM, PoLP, Access Control, Endpoint Security, Data Encryption).
Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancers, firewalls, VPN) and related AWS Services (CloudFront, API Gateway, VPC, Route 53, ELB).
In-depth knowledge of standard AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and ECS.
Excellent problem-solving skills for use-case-specific architecture design and implementation.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
AWS Associate/Professional/Specialty Certification.

Responsibilities

Design and build AWS infrastructure and landing zone.
Describe infrastructures using Terraform (Terragrunt) or AWS CloudFormation.
Migrate customer workloads from on-prem/GCP/Azure/Heroku environments.
Review and remediate customers’ cloud solutions by applying AWS Well-Architected Framework’s principles and best practices.
Participate in technical and business discussions with stakeholders.
Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in multiple integration and test environments.
Stay up-to-date with the AWS innovations and achieve Associate/Professional/Specialty level certifications based on personal interest.
Contribute to AWS Competency and Service Delivery Program to support the company’s AWS Partner journey.
