Freelance Symfony Architect – Modular Platform | Hybrid Belgium | Long-Term

We’re supporting an internal delivery team in Belgium working on a high-scale, real-time platform used across logistics, infrastructure, and access control environments. The system is composed of multiple applications and services working together to manage users, devices, and distributed access points.

They’re looking for a senior Symfony Architect to take ownership of architectural decisions, guide development quality, and contribute hands-on across backend and DevOps layers.

🔍 What You’ll Be Working On

• A modular, event-driven platform used in operational environments where real-time control, transactional integrity, and reliability are critical
• Hands-on with a mature Symfony stack, supported by containerised microservices, background processing, and secure API design
• You’ll work cross-functionally with engineers, analysts, and infrastructure to evolve the platform and drive scalable design
• The environment requires developers who understand systems thinking and can work beyond feature delivery

✅ Key Requirements

• Senior-level experience architecting and scaling Symfony-based platforms
• Strong understanding of DDD, CQRS, and modular microservices
• Comfortable with Docker, CI/CD, and DevOps responsibilities
• Experience documenting architecture using UML, C4, or BPMN
• Strong communication skills - collaborative across tech and product teams
• Able to work hybrid 2 days/week on-site Brussels
• Fluent in English; French or Dutch is a bonus
