About the role
As an SRE, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring PharmaLex’s customers experience seamless, reliable service. Your work will reduce downtime, automate key operational tasks, and improve system performance, allowing the business to scale globally while maintaining product excellence.
- Drive the automation of operational tasks using programming discipline and languages like GO.
- Own the observability stack and provide deep insights into the behaviour of the application. Establishing SLI/SLOs for products, and continuously improving solutions to achieve these targets.
- Respond to incidents and outages, conducting root-cause analysis through blameless postmortems.
- Maintain and improve our key infrastructure, such as Kubernetes and Azure cloud offerings.
- Collaborate with DevOps, development teams, operations and stakeholders to improve system resilience and optimize performance.
- Support, mentor, and coach other members of the team
- Maintain the IaC of the products using tools like Terraform and Ansible with Azure DevOps
What does SRE mean here at Pharmalex?
- SRE at Pharmalex is the software engineering approach to production operations.
- 50% of your time will be building software to automate the manual work you do during the other 50% of your time will be providing operational support to the products you cover.
- SRE operates critical products 24/7/365 operating within agreed SLOs. Out-of-hours support via a rota. Managing incidents, managing stakeholders and running blameless postmortems to improve the product.
- SRE works with the other engineering areas of DevOps and Development to drive reliability within the product lifecycle.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a strong mix of technical and soft skills to drive technical brilliance and strong collaboration across multiple teams.
Technical skills
- Cloud infrastructure: Strong experience with Azure or other cloud providers, including resource management, monitoring, and automation.
- Kubernetes/Containerisation: running highly available applications on production clusters.
- Programming languages such as Go or Python to a high standard
- Databases: Solid understanding of MySQL or other relational databasesIaC tools such as Terraform.
- Observability: Experience with SLI/SLOs and instrumenting applications to understand what’s going on underneath the surface
- Incident Management expertise
- IaC Tooling: Experience using Terraform for managing infrastructure as code, focusing on best practices for deployment and scalability.
Soft skills
