Role Title: AI & Automation Expert

Local: Lisbon


In partnership with Vantage Towers, and as part of the strategic strengthening of its teams and the promotion of its business, we are recruiting a AI & Automation Expert for Lisbon.


Role Purpose: The AI & Automation Expert is responsible for enabling scalable, secure, and governed automation across VT. The role focuses on identifying and prioritizing automation and AI-driven use cases, supporting business units in shaping initiatives, and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and IT security standards. This includes oversight of RPA and AI initiatives, tooling, and the definition of guardrails to prevent fragmented, redundant, or ungoverned automation solutions that could pose risks to security, compliance, and scalability. The expert works cross-functionally to ensure that automation and AI are adopted in a structured, responsible, and value-driven manner.


Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

· Identify and assess high-value AI and automation use cases across the organization;

· Maintain and prioritize a central AI and automation backlog with clear impact and feasibility criteria;

· Conduct regular backlog reviews with business and IT stakeholders;

· Support the implementation of selected RPA solutions, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with enterprise standards;

· Define and maintain governance and architectural standards for automation and AI initiatives;

· Develop AI governance frameworks to ensure standardization, traceability, and responsible development;

· Align AI and automation efforts with IT architecture and cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance;

· Define and implement AI risk management processes, including model bias assessments and GDPR compliance;

· Monitor and ensure adherence to AI and automation lifecycle governance and operational guardrails;

· Prevent fragmented or redundant automation efforts by establishing standardized tooling and processes;

· Provide guidance and oversight to business and IT teams on automation and AI enablement practices;

· Collaborate closely with the AI & Data Science Engineer team to ensure seamless integration of AI models into automation workflows and alignment across AI and automation initiatives


Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

· Strong understanding of AI governance, compliance, and risk management principles;

· In-depth knowledge of process automation, RPA, and AI-driven automation concepts;

· Practical understanding of generative AI solutions and their application in automation, governance, and responsible use within business environments;

· Experience with use case discovery, backlog management, and prioritization frameworks;

· Experience managing cross-functional initiatives involving business, IT, and data stakeholders;

· Ability to translate complex processes into structured automation or AI use cases;

· Structured, analytical, and outcome-focused mindset with strong stakeholder engagement skills;

· Effective communicator with experience in facilitating workshops and steering discussions;

· Ability to document standards, guidelines, and best practices for AI and automation adoption.


Must have technical/professional qualifications:

· A successfully completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Business Engineering, or related field;

· At least three years of hands-on experience in implementing automation and AI initiatives, including responsibility for governance, tooling, and cross-functional collaboration;

· Understanding of ML model types and their application in automation contexts;

· Basic Python skills and familiarity with ML libraries like scikit-learn are beneficial;

· General understanding of GenAI concepts (e.g. LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG) and their potential use in process automation or intelligent agents;

· Experience with RPA tools (e.g. UiPath, Power Automate, Automation Anywhere), automation orchestration, and Power Platform as part of enterprise automation tooling;

· Knowledge of AI/ML lifecycle principles, including risk, compliance, and monitoring processes;

· Understanding of IT architecture, data protection, and cybersecurity alignment requirements;

· Understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to AI and automation (e.g. GDPR, ISO standards);

· Extensive professional experience in distributed, multinational and complex organizations · Fluent English (C1) skills written and spoken.
